West Chicago, IL…State Rep. Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago) announced that applications for the Illinois General Assembly Legislative Scholarship are now available in the 95th legislative district.

The program allows each member of the Illinois General Assembly to award scholarships (a tuition waiver) for Illinois state universities. Awards are given to students who have demonstrated scholastic achievement, been active in public and civic affairs and who are in need of scholarship assistance. Fortner will be awarding eight 1-year scholarships.

The application deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009. All applicants must be a resident of the 95th District. Those who are unsure if they live in the district can check their voter registration card or visit the State Board of Election Web site at www.elections.state.il.us.
